Gun control is yet another difficult and controversial subject, like many of the others we seek to address here at FearlessLeaders.com. There are no definitive correct answers to the gun violence that plagues us, given the second amendment protects Americans’ right to gun ownership. However, we can try our best to gain more context and clarity, and use it to promote more strictly enforced gun laws, a safer country.
The primary question is to what degree the right to bear arms is absolute. There is no doubt that the framers of The Constitution hadn’t predicted what horrors would befall us due to guns. Even in the 1700s people were not given absolute rights to own weapons. For example, they could not own canons, the most dangerous weapon of the day. And when machine guns were invented in the 1800s citizens were not allowed to own them.
Today there are a variety of laws related to gun ownership, which vary from state to state, and at the national level. So, the important takeaway here is that there is already a line; the right to bear arms is not absolute in all cases, and of course should not be. Therefore, the goal should be to keep moving that line to a point where Americans are much safer. Lobby your representatives to support more, new, tougher laws and enforcement, and yes, mental health resources. Plus, help make sure law enforcement is trained better to stop gun crimes before they happen, and respond faster when it does.
It is a huge mistake to allow the National Rifle Association (NRA) to enter this debate. They are blatantly an evil and corrupt lobbying organization, with way too much influence in Washington for decades. They practically own the warped minds of many Republican representatives, who are paid off one way or another for their loyalty. That loyalty to the farcical NRA narrative trickles down in to common society, helping create many absolutists and extremists. The NRA and other extremists should be discounted out 100% so conscientious people can take control of the situation; and save children from a society wrought with massive avoidable death.
Nasty video games, violent movies, music, and especially certain social media, along with Hollywood idiocy in general, help create a society where children (and adults) perpetuate a negative, potentially evil, outlook towards other people and the world overall; many become detached from reality. Violent music, violent rhetoric, plus angry, negative people and influences often persuade them to act out dangerously. To some degree it relates to peer pressure. One kid can prove to his social media group or school peers that he is in fact the most vicious, uncaring, and extreme, by using weapons against others.
The Republicans are not exclusively to blame for sure. Most of Hollywood and Silicon Valley are Democrats who profit extensively from the above paradigm. And Vice President Kamala Harris believes in bailing out arsonists and rioters for example; thinks it is all great. Woke delusion is just as dangerous as right-wing extremism in this and every other case.
Pay attention and make yourself part of the solution, working against the problem. It is complex and requires a lot of studying and efforts, but there is no other rational choice.
